FIL contacts WADA concerning World Championships in Sochi 2020

Berchtesgaden (RWH) The International Luge Federation (FIL) has informed all member federations in a circular letter about the state of affairs regarding the decision of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) concerning the sanctions against Russia. Regarding the 2020 Luge World Championships in Sochi (RUS), FIL Executive Director Christoph Schweiger wrote: “We are in the process of contacting WADA and discussing further procedures in this matter.”

“I would like to expressly state that WADA’s decision is not yet legally valid and therefore it is out of the question for the FIL to withdraw the 2020 Luge World Championship from the Russian Luge Federation at the present time”, he continues. “This also means that we are currently continuing the preparatory work for this Worlds in Sochi as planned.”
