FIL establishes COVID-19 Working Group

Covid-10

Berchtesgaden (RWH) The International Luge Federation plans to establish a COVID-19 working group. This body will consist of the Sports Director Artificial Track, the Italian Maria-Luise Rainer, the Technical Director Artificial Track, Christian Eigentler from Austria, and a member of the Medical Commission yet to be appointed. The FIL in Berchtesgaden announced this in a circular letter to its member federations as a decision of the Executive Board.

The task of the working group, which will closely cooperate with the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF), is to establish contact and organize video conferences with each of the organizers of FIL events of the 2020-2021 season. The goal is to analyse the individual situation of each organizer together and at an early stage and to prepare appropriate steps and measures in order to be able to carry out the FIL competitions and the planned International Training Weeks as low-risk as possible. This will also require the active involvement of authorities/health care institutions in the respective countries or communities. The FIL sponsoring agencies as well as the TV rights holders will also be involved in these discussions.

The FIL has received a risk assessment tool developed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO). It will be used as one of the tools for the individual risk assessment regarding COVID-19 and FIL events in the coming season.
