Berchtesgaden (pps) The 2005/2006 events schedule artificial track of the International Luge Federation (FIL) will feature eight Viessmann World Cups, four Challenge Cups as well as the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin as the season’s highlight. As the FIL Executive Board has now confirmed, the European Championships will take place in Winterberg from January 19 to 22, 2006. The Viessmann World Cups will take place in Sigulda (Latvia), Turin (Italy), Altenberg (Germany), Calgary (Canada), Lake Placid (USA), Königssee (Germany), Igls (Austria) and Oberhof (Germany). The four Challenge Cups will take place at the tracks in Sigulda, Altenberg, Königssee and Igls.

The season’s highlight will be the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin. The luge medals will be awarded on February 12 for men’s singles, on February 14, for women’s singles and on February 15 for doubles. The women’s singles and men’s singles competitions will consist of four race runs, the doubles competition of two.
