FIL Executive Board Meets in Munich

Key Decisions on the Congress, Rules, and Future of Luge

FIL Exekutive 2023

München (FIL/24 Apr 2026) The Executive Committee of the International Luge Federation (FIL) will convene for its next meeting on April 28 and 29, 2026, in Hallbergmoos near Munich (GER). The discussions will focus on key decisions regarding the strategic development of luge, preparations for the 74th FIL Congress, and important resolutions concerning the rulebook (IRO), calendar planning, and international championships.

Under the leadership of FIL President Einars Fogelis, the Executive Board will discuss numerous forward-looking topics at the Mövenpick Hotel Munich Airport. The meeting will be based, among other things, on reports from the President and the commissions, which have met in recent weeks—in some cases virtually, in the spirit of sustainability.

A key focus is on preparations for the 74th FIL Congress, which will take place in Berchtesgaden in June 2026. Both organizational aspects and upcoming elections will be addressed. In addition, the Executive Committee will discuss motions regarding the FIL Statutes and the International Luge Regulations (IRO), which are to be submitted to the FIL Congress for a decision.

Other key topics include the financial report for the 2025/2026 season and the budget proposal for the coming fiscal year. The evaluation of bids for international championships in track and natural track luge is also on the agenda.

In the sporting arena, the calendar for the 2026/2027 season in artificial track and alpine luge will be discussed and confirmed, and important personnel decisions—such as the appointment of juries and technical delegates for World and Junior World Championships—will be made.

In addition, the Executive Committee will address several strategic and regulatory issues, including the further development of track construction guidelines, the homologation of luge tracks, the allocation of advertising space, and the implementation of the 2027 WADA Code. The initial planning for the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps is also part of the Executive Committee meeting.

Another item on the agenda is the handling of membership issues within the FIL, as well as motions from national federations that will be submitted to the Congress for information or decision.

“The Executive Committee meeting is a central building block for the further development of our sport. This is where the groundwork is laid for important decisions that we will adopt at the Congress together with our member federations,” said FIL President Einars Fogelis ahead of the meeting.

In addition to the official meetings, the gathering also provides an opportunity for personal exchange among the Executive members, who are traveling from various nations.

The next meeting of the FIL Executive is scheduled for fall 2026.
