Cesana (pps) Immediately before the 53rd Congress of the International Luge Federation (FIL) in Cesana (June 17/18), the Executive Board decided on changes for the Olympic winter.

As a test event, the European Championships in Winterberg will be carried out with modified schedule and shortened duration of the competition. In case of a successful test, all FIL championships are planned to be held according to this pattern. Regulations for admission to training in the upcoming Olympic season were amended. For example, so-called “rookies” now have to have successfully participated in an FIL luge school before they may compete in their first World Cup. Participation in systematic training on the Olympic track in Turin/Cesana is now mandatory for all athletes. Additionally, Challenge Cup rules were modified. In the future, 12 women, 16 men and eight doubles will be at the start in the pre-competition.
Furthermore, the Executive Board confirmed the events schedule for natural track luge.
