FIL Athletes‘ Commission met with IOC representative for the first time
St. Leonhard (pps) As a preparation for the upcoming 61st Congress of the International Luge Federation (FIL) in Istanbul, Turkey, at the end of June, the FIL expert commissions have met in Austria’s St. Leonhard. The four expert commissions (sport and technical commissions for artificial and natural track) analysed the past season and discussed sport-related and technical details for the upcoming season. A common meeting of the two artificial track commissions was held at the artificially refrigerated track in Koenigssee (GER). Upon invitation by track chief Markus Aschauer the technical inspection of the sleds was demonstrated on site.
At the same time the FIL Athletes‘ Commission convened, joined by Adam Pengilly of Great Britain, former skeleton pilot and two-time Olympian (2006 and 2010). He is a Member of the International Olympic Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Athletes’ Commission and participated in the meeting as an observer.
