FIL Family Mourns the Death of Walter Marx senior

Stary Smokovec, Slovakia (FIL/21 Jan 2023) On January 21, 2023, Walter Marx senior, passed away after a prolonged illness at the age of 80. The FIL family mourns the loss of a dedicated companion. Walter Marx was the long-time president first of the Czechoslovak and later Slovak Luge Federation. He was coach of all Olympic participants of Slovakia in luge.

"On behalf of the FIL, I extend our deepest condolences to Walter's family," said FIL President Einars Fogelis. Marx was a long-time member of the FIL Technical Commission and celebrated his 80th birthday only on December 12, 2022. In 2007, he received the FIL Ring of Honor for his services.
