FIL joins Olympic Movement’s global call to action on Olympic Day
Berchtesgaden (FIL/22 June 2025) The International Luge Federation (FIL) proudly supports Olympic Day 2025 and the IOC’s global initiative “Let’s Move”, encouraging people everywhere to rediscover the power of sport — not only for performance, but for health, happiness, and human connection.
Launched in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), Let’s Move? responds to a growing global health crisis: inactivity. According to WHO data from 2024, one in three adults and over 80% of young people worldwide are not moving enough. This alarming trend calls for action.
As part of the Olympic Movement, FIL joins the global invitation to move — on Olympic Day and every day. Whether on a sled, on foot, or on wheels, it’s about getting active, bringing people together, and enjoying the many benefits of sport.

“Sport is not just about medals or speed. It is a universal language that brings people together and strengthens our communities,” said FIL President Einars Fogelis. “On Olympic Day, we want to inspire everyone – young and old – to move more. Grab a friend, go outside, and experience the joy of sport. Luge teaches us courage, commitment and balance – but most importantly, it reminds us how movement can create smiles, resilience and lifelong memories.”
The FIL is calling on athletes, fans, national federations, and luge clubs to celebrate Olympic Day 2025 by sharing their own #LetsMove moments online and taking part in local events to promote participation in sporting activities—whether on foot, on a sled, or with any other piece of sports equipment.
