Berlin (pps) According to a resolution passed by its Executive Board, the International Luge Federation will offer three so-called luge schools before the Olympic winter. „Athletes who are new beginners to the sport of luge are authorized to participate in training of FIL competitions only after successful completion of a FIL luge school. This must be confirmed by the instructor”, the FIL Executive Board resolution specifies.
FIL development manager Ioan Apostol from Romania will coordinate the training courses in Sigulda, Latvia (October 17 to 23, 2005), and Lillehammer, Norway (October 24-30, 2005) for athletes of the general class. For juniors and young talents a FIL luge school is scheduled to be held in Lillehammer from November 21 to 26. Apostol will also issue the confirmations regarding the successful completion of a luge school, which will then authorize athletes to participate in FIL competitions.
