Bucharest (FIL/17 June 2023) At the 71st Congress of the International Luge Federation (FIL) in Bucharest (ROU) on Saturday, June 17, several personalities were honored by FIL President Einars Fogelis and Secretary General Dwight Bell for their many years of service to the sport of luge.

Erin Warren and Beverly Detweiler (both USA) as well as Ivan Bayik and Vasyl Kazmiruk (both Ukraine) received the FIL Bronze Badge of Honor for their commitment to the sport of luge. Erin Warren, President of the USA Luge Federation, was present at the ceremony and received the medal in person.

In addition, two deserving personalities from outside the FIL organization, Stefan Krauss and Rudolf Größwang, received the FIL Medal of Honor. With his agency RGS, Rudolf “Rudi” Größwang has been a loyal supporter of the FIL for many years. Many sponsors such as Eberspaecher, Hargassner, Viessmann and Seiz have been won for the sport of luge through his agency.

Stefan Krauß, Managing Director of Infront Austria, has also been a loyal supporter of the FIL for many years. Among other things, Infront brokered the sponsoring partnerships with Suzuki, Hörmann, Tiscover, BMW and Engelbert Strauss. The FIL thanks both personalities of the partner agencies for their outstanding commitment with the Medal of Honor.

The long-standing honorary officials of the FIL, RA Norbert Hiedl (Ethics Officer until 2022) and Dr. Jörg Ellermeyer (Head of the Medical Commission until 2022), were to be awarded the Gold Medal of Honor of the International Luge Federation (FIL) at the 71st FIL Congress. Unfortunately, both deserving officials could not be present in person due to health reasons or professional indisposition. The medals will be presented at a later date.
