FIL mourns the death of Bettina Neumann

Berchtesgaden (RWH) The International Luge Federation (FIL) mourns the death of Bettina Neumann. On April 28th the Silver Medallist of the 1984 Olympic Winter Games in Sarajevo (YUG), who competed in these days with her maiden Name Schmidt, passed away after long and heavy illness. This was now published on the Homepage of the National Federation of Germany (BSD).
Her biggest successes she celebrated under her given name. She won silver at the 1984 Olympics, 1981 she captured silver as well at the FIL World Championships in Hammarstrand (SWE). 1982 she secured the titles of a European Champion. She won four world cup races as well.
After her retirement she stayed connected to luge. She began working as a coach for the hopefuls of Thuringia. Later she was responsible for the training centre in Winterberg, before the German Federation hired Bettina Neumann as a development coach.
