FIL mourns the passing of Hansjörg Posch

Umhausen Organising Committee Chairman dies aged 68
 

The International Luge Federation (FIL) is mourning the death of Hansjörg Posch. The Chairman of the Organising Committee in Umhausen (AUT) passed away on Friday at the age of 68.

Umhausen (FIL/11 January 2026) – The Alpine Luge World Cup is in mourning. Just before the start of the Junior World Cup on the Grantau track, Hansjörg Posch passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. Since 2020, the 68-year-old had served as Chairman of the Organising Committee, steering the affairs of the Luge World Cup in the Ötztal.

The International Luge Federation FIL extends its sincere condolences to the family of Hansjörg Posch and to the entire luge community in the Ötztal.
