Berchtesgaden (RWH) With a small celebration, the new museum in the office of the International Luge Federation (FIL) was officially inaugurated in Berchtesgaden (GER). The exhibition is titled “The Olympic History of Luge”, and delegates of the national federations who are taking part in the season’s finale of the Viessmann Luge World Cup in Königssee are invited to attend. FIL President Josef Fendt was happy to welcome Franz Rasp, the Mayor of Berchtesgaden, and the “luge legends” Sepp Lenz, Georg Hackl and Hans Plenk.

The exhibition was curated by Herbert Wurzer, the archivist of the FIL, and shows the development of sledges during various Olympic periods, gold medals from various Winter Games and photos of the Olympic Champions. The display is rounded off with some original Olympic Game torches and a collection of stamps with luge as a motive. Hans Scherer was responsible as a decorator.

The exhibition can be visited during normal office hours upon prior registration.
