Berchtesgaden (PMA) Former athlete Evi Mitterstieler from Italy is now responsible for the Development of Luge on Natural Track. To enlarge the family of Luge she started a new program called the “Tourbus” together with Vice President Natural Track of International Luge Federation (FIL) Peter Knauseder. Slovenia, Czech Republic, Poland, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden are the visited countries at the Natural Track Summer tour. “We present the sport in front of the kids and their parents and potential coaches. We show them which material is used and needed. Then we begin a starters program where they learn the sport on track. After that we’ll have a small competition and then we will answer all the questions of the coaches, kids and parents”, describes Evi Mitterstieler. She is supported by current World Champion and Overall World Cup winner Patrick Pigneter and Matteo Clara. Clara is the brother of Pigneter’s doubles partner and is coaching the FIL Group with Evi Mitterstieler and Austrian Karl Flacher. “It is a honour for me to participate at this program. I’m coaching the kids of my home club for years now and I’m completing my Coach Education in Innsbruck”, says Pigneter. The Tourbus will visit Jesenice, Mseno, Nisou, Goldap, Delnice, Sarajevo, Stockholm and Umea. “All the visited clubs should continue the training. A group of athletes will be invited by FIL to a three days lasting training session at Kühtai before the start of the season. The most talented will be invited to the Junior World Cup and maybe we have some new nations next year in the World Cup”, Mitterstieler explains.
