Joint inspection of the future luge track for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games Sochi (pps) In the first week of October, Germany’s Josef Fendt, President of the International Luge Federation (Fédération Internationale de Luge de Course, FIL), and Ivo Ferriani of Italy, President of the International Bobsleigh Federation (Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Toboganning, FIBT) conducted a joint inspection in Sochi, Russia. Fendt and Ferriani visited the venue of the upcoming Olympic Winter Games to determine the current state of affairs regarding the building activities for the artificially refrigerated track in Rzhanaya Polyana. This is where the competitions in luge, bobsleigh and skeleton will be carried out during the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Fendt and Ferriani were accompanied by the building experts of both international federations, Markus Aschauer of Germany and Italy’s Giacomo Dariz. In Sochi, the delegations of the two winter sports federations then met with representatives of the national Russian Federations as well as of the Organising Committee (OC) for the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, among them OC Vice President Sergey Bondarenko.
