Östersund (RWH): The President of the International Luge Federation (FIL), Josef Fendt of Berchtesgaden, Germany, used his visit to the Biathlon World Championships in the Swedish town of Östersund to take part in various meetings. The former World Champion met with his counterpart Olle Dahlin (SWE), President of the International Biathlon Union (IBU). Fendt talked as well to Klaus Schormann, President of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne, the global governing body for modern pentathlon.

Fendt attended a meeting with Arno Kompatscher, governor of the autonomous province of South Tyrol, where they discussed Milan’s joint application to host the 2026 Winter Olympics with Cortina dʼAmpezzo. Sweden has also submitted a bid for Stockholm to host the games. Fendt used the opportunity to a meeting with thRichard Brisius, the CEO of the Stockholm bid.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is due to select one of the two only applicants at its session in Lausanne on 24 June 2019.
