Duisburg (pps) On Thursday, July 14, the President of the International Luge Federation (FIL), Josef Fendt from Berchtesgaden, attended the ceremonial opening of the World Games in Duisburg. Immediately prior to the opening ceremony, Fendt seized the opportunity of the reception by the German Federal Minister of the Interior Otto Schily to talk to Jacques Rogge, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). During this conversation, Rogge and Fendt agreed to meet for extensive talks in Lausanne in September.

During the World Games until July 24, a total of 177 competitions in 40 non-Olympic sports will be held.
