Allendorf (RWH) The president of the International Luge Association (FIL), Josef Fendt, was one of the guests at the Olympic Welcome Party in Allendorf, Hessen, organised by FIL’s main sponsor Viessmann. Fendt used the occasion to present Professor Martin Viessmann with an original world cup – usually reserved for the overall winners of the Viessmann World Cup – as a mark of appreciation for his commitment and support.
Viessmann has been involved in the world of sports sponsorship since 1993, and has been the title sponsor of the FIL World Cup since the 1996/1997 season. From cross-country skiing, ski jumping and bobsleigh to biathlon and Nordic combined, Viessmann can also be found at all of the other major winter sports events as either the title or presenting sponsor.
The Viessmann team took home eight gold medals, six silvers and three bronzes from Sochi 2014, a total of 17 Olympic medals. If the company had been listed in the national rankings, it would have come in seventh: just behind Germany, and ahead of well-established winter sports nations such as Switzerland, Austria or Sweden.
