FIL President Fendt attends winter sports show in China

Tianjin (RWH) The President of the International Luge Federation (FIL), Germany’s Josef Fendt, visited China from 11 to 13 December where he attended the National Public Ice & Snow Season winter sports show in Tianjin and travelled to the capital Beijing for talks with the organisers of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games in the 2022.

Together with the presidents and representatives of the six other Olympic winter sports federations, Fendt attended the official opening of the winter sports show in Tianjin, a port city in Northeast China. According to the organisers, the event has previously been instrumental in encouraging tens of millions of Chinese people to get involved in winter sports.

Fendt’s visit concluded with a trip to Beijing for talks with Lixing Tong, the sporting director of the Olympic Winter Games. The opening ceremony of the first Winter Games to  be staged in China will take place on 4 February 2022.

Last year, Secretary General Einars Fogelis attended the 5th National Public Ice & Snow Season, which was held in Shanghai for the first time, on behalf of the FIL and concluded a basic agreement with the organising committee BOCOC.
