FIL President Fendt meets Japanese Luge Association at World Figure Skating Championships

Saitama (RWH) During a visit to the World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama, Japan, the President of the International Luge Federation (FIL), Josef Fendt of Germany, used the occasion to hold in-depth talks with Japan’s national luge association. His meeting with the association’s President Takahiro Kitano, Secretary General Ichiro Hisada and the FIL’s Asia Coordinator Koji Kuriyama focused on the future of luge in Japan.

President Kitano announced his intention to establish a Japanese luge team with an official full-time coach. A representative from the Japanese association will also attend the FIL Congress in Ljubljana (SLO) in mid-June.

During the World Figure Skating Championships, Fendt also held talks with Sweden’s Gunilla Lindberg, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Secretary General of the Association of National Olympic Committees.
