Pyeongchang (pps) Last weekend, Josef Fendt of Berchtesgaden, President of the International Luge Federation, FIL, visited the fist luge start in South Korea. Upon invitation of Korea’s Luge Federation, Fendt had travelled to Pyeongchang and discussed the development of the sport of luge in Korea and Asia with its President Jae-Ho Chung, who is also FIL Vice President for Asia. In addition FIL President Josef Fendt visited the designated location for a possible new artificially-iced track, taken a look at the first blueprints and conducted a conversation with the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee. Apart from Annécy (France) and Munich (Germany), Pyeongchang submitted a bid to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to host the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. The decision as to the eventual host city will be taken during the 123rd General Assembly of the IOC in Durban, South Africa on July 6, 2011.
