FIL Presidium and Executive Board meet this week - war between Russia and Ukraine one of most important topics

Salzburg (FIL) On Wednesday, March 2, 2022, the FIL Presidium will meet to discuss current topics. The FIL leadership reaffirms in advance its great solidarity towards the Ukrainian people.

One of the most important items on the agenda will be the war between Russia and Ukraine and its effects on the FIL and the international sport of luge, which will be discussed in an online conference together with the FIL Executive Board.

The handling of FIL officials from Russia, the reservations regarding the participation of Russian athletes in international luge competitions and other topics in this context will also be discussed by the Presidium and the Executive Board of the International Luge Federation. In this context, the resolution of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is expected to be fully considered by the FIL.

A draft resolution condemning the military invasion of the free and independent Ukraine by Russia is being prepared by the FIL leadership.  The FIL is in dialogue with the National Federation of Ukraine and has offered all necessary support to the Ukrainian luge family. The very serious and tragic situation in Ukraine is observed with great concern by the FIL leadership.
