FIL publishes first-ever 4-year calendar /
All races up to the 2030 Winter Olympics confirmed
Altenberg (FIL/05 Mar 2026) A historic step for international luge: for the first time in its history, the FIL (International Luge Federation) has published a complete 4-year calendar. This means that the EBERSPÄCHER World Cup venues and season highlights up to the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps (February 2–17, 2030) have been finalized.
The FIL is focusing on a balanced mix of proven classics, international expansion, and a clear focus on the FIL World Championships and the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps. With stops in North America, Europe, and Asia, the Luge World Cup remains a global series at the highest sporting level.
“With this four-year calendar, the FIL is sending a clear signal of stability, transparency, and reliability in international luge,” emphasized FIL President Einars Fogelis. Long-term planning offers athletes, national associations, organizers, media, and partners maximum planning security.

Planning security until 2030
With the first-ever fixed 4-year calendar, World Cup venues and major championships have been determined up to and including the 2029/2030 season. “The fact that athletes, coaches, media, and partners already know today where the most important races of the coming years will take place is a milestone for our sport. This makes sponsorship, TV planning, and youth development much easier,” explains FIL Sports Director Matthias Böhmer.
"We are delighted that the FIL has chosen the World Cup finals here in Altenberg to announce its four-year plan until 2030. It is a strong sign of the excellent cooperation that has existed for years between the FIL and WiA as the organizer of many high-profile events.
We still have fond memories of the perfect Luge World Championships in 2024.
This new strategy provides a high degree of planning security until 2030 – a completely new and very satisfying situation. On the one hand, this applies to finding and retaining sponsors and securing public funding. On the other hand, it also sends a strong signal about the great fan culture of luge here at the SachsenEnergie Ice Channel.
In short, we are very pleased with this new development and look forward to the FIL events over the next four years," said Jens Morgenstern, Managing Director of WIA Wintersport Altenberg (Osterzgebirge) GmbH.
