Sigulda (pps) The International Luge Federation (FIL) held a small ceremony at the final of the Viessmann Luge World Cup series in Sigulda, Latvia to say good-bye to its long-time officials Sepp Benz of Switzerland and Norwegian Bjoern Dyrdahl. Since the death of Karl Zenker, Benz had been officiating as Chairman of the FIL Sport Commission. Prior to this he was head of the youth working group. With humorous remarks and a small present FIL President Josef Fendt thanked both officials for their commitment.

From now on Austria’s Christian Eigentler will act as FIL Technical Director. At the 2012 FIL Congress in Riga it was decided to cancel the position of Chairman of the FIL Sport Commission as of summer 2014 without replacement. The respective area of responsibilities will be taken on by the FIL Vice President Sport.
