Whistler (pps) The Secretary General of the International Luge Federation (FIL), Svein Romstad, has drawn a positive conclusion after the Viessmann Luge World Cup in Whistler, Canada. “The event was excellently organised and all athletes I talked to were enthusiastic”, said Romstad. According to Romstad the Olympic start heights proved successful. “Of course some of the top athletes would prefer to start again from the top of the track. But we – as the International Federation – need to keep an eye on the entire field of competitors.”
During the Viessmann Luge World Cup Romstad (USA) conducted talks with those responsible in order to improve the situation with regard to the women’s and doubles start. “I’m confident that we will find a good solution”, said Romstad with the 2013 FIL Luge World Championships in mind.
About 1,200 spectators followed the decision in the women’s singles when Alex Gough claimed the fourth place as well as the second rank of team Canada in the Viessmann Team Relay Event presented by INTERSPORT.
