PyeongChang (RWH) The International Luge Federation (FIL) will be testing its sprint format as a discipline in its own right with titles for the women’s singles, men’s singles and the doubles at the 46th FIL World Championships on the artificial track in Königssee (GER), 30–31 January 2016.. A corresponding application made by the Sports Commission and the Executive Board at the recommendation of the German Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton Federation (BSD) has been approved by the 63rd FIL Conference in PyeongChang, Korea. The FIL sprint event, which featured on the FIL race calendar for the first time in the winter of 2014/2015, is decided in just one run on a shortened track measured from a flying start. The 2015/2016 season will see not only the three World Championship sprint races, but also sprints in the women’s, men’s and doubles during the Viessmann World Cups in Park City/USA, Calgary/CAN and Sochi/RUS.
