Antholz (RWH) Thomas Schwab addressed a wide range of relevant topics at the 40th Forum Nordicum. In his opening address to the audience at the traditional meeting of Nordic skiing journalists, the International Luge Federation's (FIL) Vice President for Marketing discussed the issues of environmental compatibility, future viability and sustainability as challenges shared by both sports. "We must have answers to all of these questions," said Schwab in the Italian town of Antholz, the host of this winter's Biathlon World Championships (12-23 February 2020).

Schwab – who is also CEO of the German Bobsleigh, Skeleton and Luge Federation (BSD) – appeared open to the idea of the FIL joining the International Biathlon Union (IBU) and the International Ski Federation (FIS) as permanent members of the Forum Nordicum.

The meeting of international specialist journalists was set up by the writers Willy Ahstl (AUT), Bruno Moravetz, and Werner Kirchhofer (both GER). The original idea was to discuss ways to improve working conditions for media representatives at Winter Olympic Games, World Championships and World Cups. The Forum has since evolved into an essential information exchange for journalists, hosts and equipment manufacturers in the fields of ski jumping, cross country skiing, Nordic combined and biathlon.
