During his vacation in the USA, Christoph Schweiger, Executive Director of the International Luge Federation (FIL) visited the US Luge Federation (USAL) which has its seat in Lake Placid, NY. Together with Claire DelNegro, FIL Vice President assigned for Artificial Track Sport, who traditionally spends her summers in Lake Placid, he held a meeting with Ron Rossi, USAL Executive Director and Head Coach Mark Grimmette, in which topics like future luge world cups in the USA as well as the 2013 World Junior Championships were part of the unofficial agenda. Part of the program was also a visit at the luge track which is currently being modernized. Chief of Track Tony Carlino himself took Schweiger and DelNegro up the track and demonstrated amongst other new features the brand new state-of-the-art video surveillance. Jim Goff, event director of the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA), which is also in charge of the maintenance and operation of the luge and bobsleigh track in Lake Placid, informed Schweiger and DelNegro in yet another meeting about the planned upcoming international event in the Lake Placid region as well as the wish to host a luge world cup in the season 2012/13.
