Umhausen (ck) - „Now the world championships can come, the equipment is ok, my form is ok“, announced Patrick Pigneter (ITA) after taking back the top spot on the podium. “I made the necessary changes on my sled and it worked perfectly fine in the first run. In the second run, maybe I lacked the last bit of concentration”, he analyzed the race which brought him his 30th career win. Runner up was Hannes Clara (ITA) who knows to impress with good performance even though he lacks some training from the summer months. “Yes, it is true that I have not been training a lot in summer. I focused on my job and only started training again in fall. But I can rely on my father who always prepares my sled and he does that really well, so I do not need to spend a lot of time for testing and yet always have great equipment. It is nice to be back on the second place, right after Patrick”, he said, having finished second after Patrick Pigneter five times last winter. Thomas Kammerlander (AUT) and Florian Clara (ITA) had a tough race for the third place. “When I heard Florian’s time I really did not feel well any more”, said Kammerlander, who eventually finished third. In fact, Florian Clara took the lead with the fastest time in the second run. But Kammerlander’s repost came right away and he beat Clara’s time by five hundredths of a second and was the only one who managed to stay under the 1:13.00 threshold. Neither Hannes Clara nor Patrick Pigneter, who both started after Kammerlander, managed to beat that time, but had enough margin from the first run to finish ahead of Kammerlander. “I changed a few minor things for the second run, but I don’t let myself to get under pressure. I am just happy that I stayed on the podium”, said local hero Kammerlander. In the Nations’ Cup Anton Blasbichler (ITA) won ahead of Stefan Gruber (ITA). Third became reigning world champion Gerald Kammerlander (AUT), who will try to defend his title in the world championships in Deutschnofen next week and will end his career afterwards. Women as well as doubles had their qualification runs already. Rupert Brueggler/Tobias Angerer (AUT) impressed once again and won the qualification. They will start in tomorrow’s world cup together with Christian Schopf/Andreas Schopf. In the Italian team Hannes Clara/Stefan Gruber claimed the second spot in the world cup next to Patrick Pigneter/Florian Clara. With Matic Nemc/Petra Dragicevic (SLO) also one mixed double qualified for the world cup. In the women’s qualification Melanie Schwarz dominated the field and will get the third world cup spot besides Evelin Lanthaler and Greta Pinggera. Marlies Wagner will complete the Austrian team with the seeded Tina Unterberger and Christina Götschl. Without any problems qualified also the full German team with Veronika Nachmann and Michaela Niemetz. Michaela Maurer has been seeded. In the women’s Nations’ Cup won Carmen Planötscher (ITA) ahead of Sarah Gruber (ITA) and Maria Auer (AUT): Final Results Men: 1. Patrick PIGNETER (ITA), 1:12,54(1), 1:13,19(4), 2:25,73 2.
