Germany’s team the top favourites

Innsbruck-Igls (pps) Next weekend the artificially-iced track in Innsbruck-Igls will not only be the venue of the second leg of the Viessmann Luge World Cup but it will also host the first event of the Tiscover Team Relay. Apart from Innsbruck-Igls, four additional Team Relay events will be carried out in Altenberg (December 6, 2009), Koenigssee (January 3, 2010), Winterberg (January 10, 2010) and Oberhof (January 17, 2010).

Germany’s relay team took the two World Championship titles awarded so far (2008/Oberhof and 2009/Lake Placid) and is again considered as the top favourites this season. The International Luge Federation, FIL, hopes to include the Team Relay within the programme of Olympic Winter Games and is waiting for a positive answer of the International Olympic Committee, IOC, for the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.
