After a year-long break from racing another Austrian officially ended his career. “I took one year off because I became father last year. And now – after some time to think it over – I have decided in favor of my family”, the 29-year-old explains his decision. But the Tyrolean definitely wants to keep in touch with natural track luge. In which way will be seen. “I’ll take time and think about it during this season and then we’ll see where I might be ‘useful’ – whether within the federation or working with the youngsters. His best results in World Cup were two top-5-ranks. What he is going to remember best from the time as natural track luger: “You travel a lot and see many different places. That’s really something special.” So there’s also a sound of nostalgia in his voice when talking about his retirement: “As long as you are doing sports you really do it with all your heart. I take many positive impressions with me – from natural track luge itself as well as from the community among the athletes.”
