Christian Oberstolz/Patrick Gruber wins Oberall title at in Viessmann World
Whistler (pps) At the finale of Viessmann-Luge World Cup at “Whistler Sliding Center” the two-time World Champions André Florschütz/Torsten Wustlich celebrated their first victory of the pre-Olympic season.
The current Silver Medalists of the Worlds at lake Placid won just three months after a disc operation of Florschütz in a total time of one minute 37.584 seconds.
The Olympic Champions from Salt Lake City 2002 Germany’s Patric Leitner/Alexander Resch improved in the second run with a new track record (48.608 seconds) from 7th place seven up to second. Third place went to Austria’s Olympic Champion 2006 Andreas Linger/Wolfgang Linger.
Even before the finale Italy’s Christian Oberstolz/Christian Gruber won the overall title for the second time since 2004/2005. They collected 735 points. Second Place went to Leitner/Resch (629) followed by Linger/Linger (590).
Bronze Medalists of the Worlds 2009 Mark, Grimmette/Brian Martin from the USA, finished on 7th place at Whistler and on 8th place in the overall standings. Canada’s Chris Moffat/Mike Moffat realized 9th place at Whistler.
