Oberhof (pps). The doubles finals in Oberhof (Germany) were the expected highlight of the Viessmann Luge World Cup 2005/2006.
World Champions Andre Florschütz/Torsten Wustlich (Germany) won the eighth and last Worldcup-race in the Olympic winter in a total time of one minute 22,317 seconds, followed by their teammates and Olympic Champions Patric Leitner/Alexander Resch (one minute 22,336 seconds). Italy´s Christian Oberstolz/Patrick Gruber (one minute 22,380 seconds) finished third.
In spite of a crash in the outrun area, Leitner/Resch in first run improved the old track record of their resigned teammates Steffen Skel/Steffen Wöller to 41,146 seconds. Even faster were also in first run Oberstolz/Gruber with the actual trackrecord of 41,111 seconds.
The overall ranking of the Viessmann Luge World Cup won the three times European Champions Leitner/Resch with 611 points and got their third Overall World Cup. Second in overall standings are Oberstolz/Gruber (586 points) followed by the Oberhof-winners and two-times World Champions Andre Florschütz/Torsten Wustlich (542).
