Geislingen (pps) Two-time World Champion David Möller (GER) says he is pleasantly surprised by his quick recovery after he was operated on his cruciate ligament at the end of February. „People don’t believe me when I tell them that I was operated on my cruciate ligament eight weeks ago and can do a little jogging already now“, said Möller, who reached the second rank in the Overall Viessmann World Cup in the past season.
Möller, who receives medical support from Dr. Jochen Wagner, the team doctor of the German federation (BSD), was operated on by Dr. Ernst-Otto Münch at the Orthopedic surgery in Munich at the end of February. The 27 years-old Möller underwent rehabilitation at the RESPOFIT health center in Geislingen. There, he was looked after by Michi Pössinger, one of the most renowned physiotherapists in Germany, a former competitive athlete, who already worked for members of the national teams of cross-country skiing, biathlon, alpine skiing, rowing and bobsleigh. In the coming three weeks, the fifth-placer at the Olympic Winter Games will do more rehabilitation training in Berchtesgaden.
On January 18, 2009, David Möller had suffered a cruciate ligament rupture during strength training in Oberhof. In spite of this injury, the 2004 and 2007 World Champion won the final of the Viessmann World Cup season at “Whistler Sliding Center”, the future Olympic Track for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
