Christos Chatziathanasiou has passed away Berchtesgaden (pps) The international luge family grieves the passing of Christos Chatziathanasiou. The founder and the President of the Hellenic Ice Sports Federation, passed away on October 15th at the age of 61. With regret and sorrow the Hellenic Ice Sports Federation passed this information on to the International Luge Federation (FIL). Christos Chatziathanassiou was a longtime member of the FIL Control Commission, which he also chaired for several years. He founded the Hellenic Ice Sports Federation in June 1986 and ever since was its President. He served as a member of the Hellenic Olympic Committee and a delegate to numerous Congresses of the International Skating Union (ISU), International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (FIBT) and World Curling Federation (WCF).
