On December 4, 2001, the Olympic Flame will reach Atlanta for the first leg of the Olympic Torch Relay, a 65-day celebratory tour of American cities on the way to Salt Lake City and the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.

The International Luge Federation is proud to report that the following persons involved in the sport of luge will have the great honor to carry the Olympic Torch:
Gordy Sheer - 1998 USA Olympic Silver Medalist - approximately December 30 in Syracuse, New York
Sue Rossi - 1984 Canadian Olympian - approximately December 29 in Lake Placid, New York
Klim Gatker - USA Luge Junior National Team Coach - approximately December 29 in Lake Placid, New York
Pete Motta - USA Luge Development Coach - approximately December 29 in Lake Placid, New York
Bill Lesar - race official, who will be officiating during the Olympic Games.
