Funeral Service for Margit Schumann on April 22

Schnepfenthal (RWH) The Funeral Service for Margit Schumann will take place on April 22 (11 am) in the Church of Schnepfenthal, Thuringia. Representatives of the International Luge Federation (FIL) are Executive Director Christoph Schweiger and Sport Director Maria Luise Rainer.

Margit Schumann, 1976 Olympic Champion and four-time World Champion, passed away at the age of 64 on April 11 in Oberhof. From 2005 until his death in 2014, Margit Schumann was married to the FIL’s long-serving press officer Harro Esmarch. Their marriage in Berchtesgaden was officiated by FIL President Josef Fendt in his role as head of Berchtesgaden market town council.
