Berchtesgaden (pps) After a cervical vertebra operation with later complications, Germany’s three-time Olympic champion Georg Hackl is now planning to make his World Cup debut this season at the Viessmann Luge World Cup event in Calgary (December 9-10). Hackl, record-winner together with Austria’s Markus Prock with 33 World Cup victories in the men’s event, underwent cervical vertebra surgery at the end of August, but suffered a setback after an infected nerve in his arm. The 39-year-old, who is striving for competing in his sixth Olympics in Torino, will, however, take part in the training week on the 2006 Olympic track at Cesana Pariol in November.
