Bozen (RWH) Gerda Weissensteiner, who won the 1994 Olympics in the women’s luge, has been inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI). The 46-year-old athlete from South Tyrol received the award from the President of the National Olympic Committee for Italy (CONI), Giovanni Malagò, and FISI President Flavio Roda at the Prowinter International Trade Show for Mountain and Winter Technologies in Bozen. Gerda Weissensteiner is not only the 1994 Olympic Champion in the women’s luge, she also collected bronze in the women’s bobsleigh at the Turin Winter Olympics twelve years later together with Jennifer Isacco. Along with Weissensteiner, cross-country skier Franco Nones was inducted into the Hall of Fame, which was introduced last year. Its first three members were luger Armin Zöggeler, cross-country skier Manuela Di Centa, and alpine skier Giuliana Minuzzo.
