German Championships as dress rehearsal for World Championships in Altenberg

Altenberg (FIL/27 Dec 2023) The preparations for the 52nd FIL World Championships from January 22-28, 2024 in Altenberg are reaching their climax. The German Championships in the SachsenEnergie-Eiskanal on December 29, 2023 will be the last dress rehearsal before the big event. The exciting races start at 9:30 a.m. and promise thrilling competitions.

The field of participants promises an impressive line-up, led by Germany's top athletes, who are represented in the Olympic squad (A team) as well as the National B team and the Juniors.

Local heroes like the current EBERSPAECHER World Cup leader and last year's overall winner Julia Taubitz and the women's doubles World Champion Jessica Degenhardt, who has already won seven World Cup events with Cheyenne Rosenthal, will be in the spotlight. Familiar faces such as Olympic silver medalist Anna Berreiter, Max Langenhan, who is unbeaten in nine consecutive World Cups, and Sprint World Champion Felix Loch will also be fighting for the title. The doubles' team of Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt, with six Olympic gold medals and World Championship titles each, will also be at the start.

The local heroes from Saxony, Mathis Ertel, Florian Müller and the up-and-coming junior Melina Fischer will also thrill the spectators. The races for the German Championship titles in the singles and doubles disciplines will be rounded off by a team relay, which has been expanded this season to include the women's doubles.

Racing fans are cordially invited to watch the exciting competitions live. Tickets for the German Championships will be available at the box office (Gate B / Bornweg) on December 29 at a price of 6,00 Euro (reduced 3,00 Euro). On the training days (27./28.12.2023) the entrance fee is 3,00 Euro (reduced 2,00 Euro). Food and drink will also be available, as the curve 11 snack bar will be open during the event.
