Dajana Eitberger also excels in Park City with her partner

Park City (FIL/December 13, 2025) The women really spurred each other on in the doubles race at the EBRERSPAECHER Luge World Cup. In the first run, they broke the track record one after the other. First, the Americans Chevonne Forgan/Sophia Kirkby took the lead with a time of 43.903 seconds. Jessica Degenhardt/Cheyenne Rosenthal (Germany) were the next to improve the record to 43.799 seconds. Then Selina Egle/Lara Kipp (Austria) crossed the finish line in 43.666 seconds. Before Dajana Eitberger/Magdalena Matschina (Germany) smashed the record once again: 43.514 seconds. The Germans had thus laid the foundation for their first joint World Cup victory in 1:27.140 minutes.

Dajana Eitberger / Magdalena Matschina

Eitberger had won the last World Cup in Park City in 2020 – in the singles. “We knew we could do well here, as the training times had already shown,” said Eitberger, “but you still have to get it right twice in the race.” For Matschina, it was his first time on the track in Utah: “At first, I didn't like the track very much, but after today, I like it a little more.”

Selina Egle and Lara Kipp were 0.276 seconds behind after the two runs. And they were satisfied. “The few runs we had here in training during the week weren't good,” said Egle, “We went into the race with low expectations and pretty much got the most out of it.” Degenhardt/Rosenthal were already 0.508 seconds behind in third place. Degenhardt analyzed soberly: “We made a few mistakes, so third place is okay.”

Another tenth of a second behind were the two Italians Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer ahead of Chevonne Forgan/Sophia Kirkby (USA/0.781). “Our runs in the race weren't quite what we would have liked,” explained Forgan, “but that's exactly why we're continuing to train and not giving up.” The Canadian duo Beattie Podulsky/Kailey Allan (1.256) came in sixth.

Eggert/Müller make the fewest mistakes

In the men's event, no duo completed both runs without mistakes. “Everyone made mistakes today, and the ones with the fewest mistakes won,” analyzed Toni Eggert, who stood at the top of the podium together with his partner Florian Müller. They needed 1:26.222 minutes for the two runs. Huge cheers erupted at the Olympic track in Utah Olympic Park when Zachary Di Gregorio/Sean Hollander crossed the finish line. With a blink of an eye, 0.051 seconds behind, the Americans narrowly missed their second World Cup victory. “I feel great. There's definitely more on the table, but still super stoked on second place today,” said Di Gregorio. Hollander said the basis for the good result was that “the start times were excellent in both runs.”

Ivan Nagler and Fabian Malleier (Italy/0.134) completed the podium. They were followed by Juri Gatt/Riccardo Schöpf (0.193), who won the World Cup opener in Winterberg a week ago, and Thomas Steu/Wolfgang Kindl (0.252), two doubles from Austria. Latvia's Martins Bots/Roberts Plume (0.322) came in sixth, ahead of six-time Olympic champions Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt (Germany/0.340).
