Königssee (pps) German luge athletes are ahead of their time. At the beginning of the pre-Olympic season, the German luge team will crown its national champions at the artificial track at Königssee on Saturday, October 25, 2008 (beginning at 09:00 a.m.).

Besides defending champions Natalie Geisenberger (Miesbach), David Möller (Sonneberg) and Patric Leitner/Alexander Resch (Königssee/Berchtesgaden) the start list includes the current World Champions Tatjana Hüfner (Oberwiesenthal), Felix Loch (Berchtesgaden) and André Florschütz/Torsten Wustlich (Oberhof/Oberwiesenthal).

After their national championships, the German luge team will travel to North America, where a training week is scheduled at the track in Lake Placid, venue of the 2009 FIL World Championships. In the week after that they will go to Vancouver in order to get acquainted with the new Olympic track.
