Whistler (pps) Concluding the Viessmann Luge World Cup event in Whistler, Canada, the German squad of head coach Norbert Loch with Natalie Geisenberger, Felix Loch and Tobias Wendl-Tobias Arlt won the Team Relay event and thus earned their 16th victory since the 2010-2011 season when the Team Relay became part of the World Cup program.
Similar to the 2013 World Championships at the same venue, host Canada with Alex Gough, Sam Edney and the doubles Tristan Walker-Justin Snith earned a second place finish. Austria with Nina Reithmayer, Reinhold Egger and Andreas Linger-Wolfgang Linger finished in third position.
The US squad with Erin Hamlin, Chris Mazdzer and the doubles of Matthew Mortensen-Preston Griffal narrowly missed the podium, finishing in fourth position.
Germany is heading the overall Viessmann Luge World Cup rankings with
239 points ahead of Italy (225), who earned a fifth place result in Whistler. The US team is on third position with 205 points to their credit, ahead of Austria (195) and Canada (170).
