Whistler (pps) The German luge team took “revenge” for their defeat at the season opener to claim the victory in the Viessmann Team Relay Event presented by INTERSPORT at the second stop in Whistler. On the 2010 Olympic luge track the team with Natalie Geisenberger, Felix Loch and Ronny Pietrasik-Christian Weise defeated team Canada to second place. The hosts competed with the same team as in Innsbruck-Igls - with Alex Gough, Sam Edney and Tristan Walker-Justin Snith. And just as two weeks ago, the Russian team with Tatiana Ivanova, Albert Demchenko and Vladislav Yuzhakov-Vladimir Makhnutin took third place.

As in Innsbruck-Igls the US luge team finished in fifth position. In the women’s singles former World champion Erin Hamlin posted the second-best time behind Natalie Geisenberger.

In the overall rankings of the Viessmann Luge World Cup the two teams of Germany and Canada are now tied for first place with 185 points, followed by Russia (140) on third place. Austria (120) and USA (100) are on fourth and fifth place respectively.
