In Latsch/Laces where the World Championships in 2005 have been held, it could already come to an early decision in the GERMANPIPE World Cup.
In the men´s event there are only three athletes who have crossed the 200 points line, which means that only Florian Breitenberger (ITA) and Gernot Schwab (AUT) do have a substantial chance to challenge Patrick Pigneter (ITA).
In the doubleseater´s event so far no team has managed to beat Patrick Pigneter with his partner Florian Clara. Three races, three wins is their clean sweep in this season. Yet they do not miss any opportunity to point out that the single event is more important to them and they only compete in both as long as they can handle the double stress and as long as it is fun. If they win once again in Latsch, they even could afford to skip one race, as for the final ranking only the top fife results will count.
It is up to renate Gietl (ITA) to make sure that the leading margin between her and Russia´s Ekatharina Lavrentjeva does not get any bigger. Right now the Russian is 40 points ahead. Both like the track in Laces. For the Italian Gietl there will be a certain home advantage, but Lavrentjeva already has become World Champion on this track.
Training runs will start at 9am on Saturday.
After the race in Laces there will be a three weeks break in the GERMANPIPE World Cup bevor the final in Poland will bring the decisions. In the break the European Championships (Olang) as well as the World Junior Champions (Laces) will be held.
