Lillehammer (RWH) The German luge quartet has successfully defended its title as overall winner of the Viessmann Team Relay World Cup presented by BMW. After its fifth victory in as many races, the 2014 Olympic Champion can be sure of its fifth overall victory even before the final race of the season in Sochi, Russia, on 1 March 2015. Today’s victory for the German team of Dajana Eitberger, Felix Loch and Tobias Wendl–Tobias Arlt was accomplished with a lead of just seven thousands of a second on second-placed Russia, represented by Tatiana Ivanova, Semen Pavlichenko and doubles duo Alexandr Denisyev and Vladislav Antonov. Third place went to the Austrian team of Birgit Platzer, Wolfgang Kindl and doubles duo Peter Penz–Georg Fischler. Defending titleholder Germany now has a total of 500 points and can no longer be overtaken in the overall standings. The US team came fifth in Lillehammer and is still in second place with 345 points, while the Russian team is third with 335 points.
