Germany’s relay team win in Calgary

Calgary (RWH) One week after their surprise defeat to the Russians, Germany’s relay team has successfully hit back. At the Viessmann Team Relay World Cup race presented by BMW in the Canadian city of Calgary, the double Olympic gold-winning team – on this occasion made up of Julia Taubitz, Felix Loch and the doubles team Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt – won their second race of the season and their 36th race overall. 

 Second place went to the team from the USA, made up of Summer Britcher, Tucker West and the doubles pairing Chris Mazdzer/Jayson Terdiman. Austria finished in third with Birgit Platzer, Wolfgang Kindl and Thomas Steu/Lorenz Koller.

The victors from the race in Whistler, Russia (consisting of Tatyana Ivanova, Roman Repilov, and the doubles pairing of Vsevolod Kashkin/Konstantin Korshunov) had to make do with fourth place.

 The German team has also overtaken the Russians in the overall standings, collecting 185 points compared to Russia’s 160. The USA are in third with 135 points.

 Four more events remain on the calendar for the 2018/2019 season of the Viessmann Team Relay World Cup presented by BMW. The Christmas break after the races in Whistler and Calgary (CAN) will be followed by events in Königssee (GER / 6 January 2019), Sigulda (LAT / 13 January 2019), Altenberg (GER / 3 February 2019) and Oberhof (GER / 10 February 2019).
