Nagano (pps) Germany`s luge team has won the Team Competition at the 37th World Championships in Nagano (Japan). It was the 8th title for the team.
The line-up with Barbara Niedernhuber, David Möller and Patric Leitner/Alexander Resch celebrated their victory in a total time of two minutes 28,711 seconds. The silver medal went to the US-Team (2:29,169) with Ashley Hayden, Tony Benshoof und Mark Grimmette/Brian Martin followed by Italy (2:29,415) with Anastasia Oberstolz-Antonova, Armin Zöggeler and Christian Oberstolz/Patrick Gruber.

„For the team everything was good, but not for uns. We made a big mistake in curve nine. But on the other side we captured the startrecord. So now Nagano is the one and only track of the world where we realized this thing.”

Brian Martin (USA): „Some peolpe believe we have a kind of hometrack advantage here. Each time we do race here, we are comfortable. However while we where in Königssee I was thinking I have forgotten the lines here. Since 1998 there haven´t been a lot race here. So like everybody else we have to learn the track as well. But Friday 13th must be a lucky day for us, six years ago we won bronze on the same day.”
