Germany wins team relay ahead of Austria

Königssee (RWH) The Austrian quartet missed out on their first ever victory in the Viessmann Team Relay World Cup presented by BMW by exactly two tenths of a second. Germany’s quartet featuring Julia Taubitz, Sebastian Bley and Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken took victory ahead of the Austrian squad comprising Hannah Prock, Reinhard Egger and doubles pairing Thomas Steu/Lorenz Koller. It was Austria’s fourth podium finish in four races at the Viessmann Luge World Cup on the artificial ice track at Königssee. Third place went to the US line-up of Summer Britcher, Tucker West and the doubles duo of Chris Mazdzer/Jayson Terdiman.
After three of six events, Germany leads the overall World Cup on 285 points ahead of Russia (215) and the USA with 205 points.
