Germany wins the team relay at Olympic test along with overall World Cup

PyeongChang (RWH): The German team have killed two birds with one stone at the team relay event. The quartet, made up of Natalie Geisenberger, Andi Langenhan and Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken, not only won the Olympic rehearsal race at the Viessmann team relay World Cup presented by BMW but also secured victory in the overall standings. With 431 points, the German team now cannot be beaten in the overall standings ahead of the final weekend in Altenberg next week (25/26 February 2017).

At the “Alpensia Sliding Centre” in PyeongChang, the Austrian team, made up of Birgit Platzer, Wolfgang Kindl and the doubles team of Peter Penz/Georg Fischler, finished in second. Third place in Korea went to the team from Latvia with Ulla Zirne, Kristers Aparjods, and the doubles team of Andris Sics//Juri Sics.

The Austrian quartet now shares second place in the overall standings with Russia, with both teams currently on 325 points. The US team (321) follows in fourth place. With 320 points each, Canada and Latvia are joint fifth.
